Coming by train and staying in Les Arcs or Peisey-Vallandry? You do not need a car. From Bourg-Saint-Maurice station, the funicular goes up to Arc 1600, then shuttle buses take over to the resort’s other sites. Here is how to organise your arrival, step by step, and how we can help you prepare it.
Arriving in Bourg-Saint-Maurice without a car: what you need to know
Bourg-Saint-Maurice station is the arrival point by train for Les Arcs. It is served all year round by direct TGV trains from Paris, with an increased service in winter. From other cities, direct trains or trains with a change run depending on the season: check the services for your dates when you book your tickets.
A few good habits simplify the last kilometre:
- find out before you leave the exact location of your property (Arc 1600, Arc 1800, Arc 1950, Arc 2000, Peisey-Vallandry or Bourg-Saint-Maurice);
- check the funicular and shuttle bus timetables for your dates, especially if you arrive late in the day;
- favour luggage that is easy to carry on the funicular and shuttle buses;
- if you arrive late, ask our booking centre in advance about the key handover.
From the station to Les Arcs and Peisey-Vallandry: the options on site
This is the most direct route: the Les Arcs funicular links Bourg-Saint-Maurice station to Arc 1600 in around seven minutes. Its timetable is coordinated with the trains, which is welcome when you step off the TGV.
At Arc 1600, the inter-resort shuttle buses serve Arc 1800, Arc 1950 and Arc 2000, with stops close to the residences, shops and ski lifts. They run every day, with a more frequent service in season, and the buses are equipped for passengers with reduced mobility. The timetables are published by the resort: check them for your dates before you leave.
Peisey-Vallandry is linked to Les Arcs by shuttle buses, in winter and summer alike. From the station, you can therefore take the funicular up to Arc 1600, reach Arc 1800 by shuttle bus, then take the shuttle bus to Vallandry. In winter, a regular bus line, by reservation only, also leaves from another station in the valley: ask the Peisey-Vallandry tourist office before choosing your train. A taxi, on the other hand, gives you a journey with no changes. The best choice depends on the location of your property: do not hesitate to ask our advisers.
Pour une arrivée tardive, un groupe ou beaucoup de bagages, le taxi ou le VTC vous conduit au plus près de votre résidence, sans changement. Pensez à réserver votre course à l’avance, en particulier en haute saison.
For a late arrival, a group or a lot of luggage, a taxi or private driver car takes you as close as possible to your residence, with no changes. Remember to book your ride in advance, especially in high season.
An organised transfer from the station?
Would you rather be picked up from the station and taken to your rental, without worrying about connections? Ask before you leave our booking centre in Bourg-Saint-Maurice, by phone on +33 4 79 07 05 17 or by email at resa@cis-immobilier.com: our advisers will tell you whether a private or shared transfer is possible on your dates.
This kind of pick-up is mainly of interest to families, groups and travellers who arrive late or heavily loaded.
Organising your arrival at the same time as your rental
The simplest thing is to think about your arrival when choosing your property. We offer apartments and chalets in the resorts as well as in town, and in Bourg-Saint-Maurice, rentals near the funicular or in the town centre. Whether you want to rent in Arc 1600 or in Arc 1800, rent in Peisey-Vallandry or stay in Bourg-Saint-Maurice, you can book online with secure payment or place a free option on a property.
When booking, tell our booking centre that you are coming without a car: this is the right moment to ask questions about getting to your residence, the key handover and a possible transfer. Our advisers, at the booking centre as in our agencies, answer questions about your stay.
Travelling light: ski passes, equipment and additional services
Arriving by train is also a chance to travel light. We offer you the chance to book your ski passes online, in advance: thanks to our partnership with the ski lifts, they are handed to you by our agency on the day of your arrival, with no waiting. Booked with your accommodation, they may benefit from discounts, depending on the dates and the resort.
On the accommodation side, our linen hire service (sheets, towels and tea towels supplied in the property) and optional cleaning lighten your suitcases; depending on the property, they are added when you book, and their prices are shown on the rental’s detail page. For ski equipment rental, ask our advisers: they will tell you what is possible in your resort.
Bourg-Saint-Maurice, the gateway to the Haute-Tarentaise
The capital of the Haute-Tarentaise, Bourg-Saint-Maurice is the natural base camp for a stay in Les Arcs or Peisey-Vallandry: the station, the funicular and our booking centre are all there. We also have an agency there, as in Arc 1600, Arc 1800 and Peisey-Vallandry, to welcome you as close as possible to your property.
