Aux portes du Parc national de la Vanoise : le vallon de Rosuel
Peisey-Vallandry, a village resort, is a well-kept secret. Home of the Vanoise Express, which links La Plagne to Les Arcs, it opens one of the finest skiing experiences across two legendary areas. It is the link at the heart of Paradiski! Nestled in the sun, surrounded by magnificent spruce and larch forests, Peisey-Vallandry offers family holidays unspoilt nature in the heart of the Vanoise National Park.
Peisey-Vallandry lies at the gates of the Vanoise National Park, the first national park created in France, in 1963. Going up the valley from Nancroix, you reach the Rosuel valley, the main gateway to the Park. In summer, Park rangers welcome visitors at the Maison du Parc at Rosuel, which offers exhibitions and activities.
In winter, the Rosuel plateau hosts the Nordic ski area, at the foot of the Park’s peaks: 13 cross-country ski trails, around 43 km in total, and a biathlon stadium. In summer, trails start from the valley for every level, from the easy Le Long du Torrent route to the Nant Putor waterfall, and up to Lac de la Plagne, a high-altitude lake reached from the Rosuel refuge on a route rated difficult. On these trails you may come across marmots and chamois, sometimes ibex, and, with luck and binoculars, spot the bearded vulture.
Good to know before you go: dogs are not allowed in the heart of the Park, even on a lead; only assistance dogs and herding dogs are admitted. Outside the heart of the Park, the rules of the communes apply, and many trails remain open to dogs.

Peisey-Nancroix, Plan-Peisey or Vallandry: which area to choose?
Peisey-Vallandry is not a single village, but a group of villages and hamlets tiered up the hillside, each with its own character. Vallandry, incidentally, lies in the neighbouring commune of Landry, while Peisey is the historic main village of the commune of Peisey-Nancroix. Choosing your area means choosing the atmosphere of your stay: a village and its valley, a direct link to La Plagne via the Vanoise Express, or a resort designed for families. A network of free shuttle buses links the villages, in winter and summer alike.
Peisey-Nancroix, the village and the Rosuel valley
The main village, Peisey, at 1,320 m altitude, has kept its old buildings and heritage; this is where the tourist office is open all year round. Higher up, the hamlet of Nancroix, at 1,450 m, is the starting point for the Rosuel valley and the Vanoise National Park, while the hamlet of Moulin is crossed by the GR5. Renting in Peisey-Nancroix means choosing the calm of a village, as close as possible to the Nordic ski area and the valley trails.
Plan-Peisey, the starting point for the Vanoise Express
Plan-Peisey is where the resort first developed: you stay facing the peaks, with the pistes within ski reach. This is where the Vanoise Express, the cable car that reaches La Plagne, departs from. For skiers who want to cover the whole of Paradiski, it is the most practical area: renting in Plan-Peisey means staying at the starting point of the link between the two ski areas.
Vallandry, the family resort
Built as a single complex and designed for families, Vallandry brings all its services together around its snow front and its gondola. Beginners find a learning area at the top of the gondola, and in summer the gondola gives access to the Homme-Cairn trail. Renting in Vallandry means putting the simplicity of a family stay first.
Paradiski from Peisey-Vallandry: ski area and ski passes
Peisey-Vallandry forms a single ski area with Les Arcs, Les Arcs / Peisey-Vallandry, with 200 km of pistes. From Plan-Peisey, the Vanoise Express reaches La Plagne in 4 minutes and so opens up the whole of Paradiski: 425 km of pistes.
The choice of ski pass follows from this. The Classic Pass covers the Les Arcs / Peisey-Vallandry ski area; the Essential Pass opens up the whole of Paradiski, La Plagne included. Book them online at the same time as your rental: our agency hands them to you on the day of your arrival, so you avoid the ski lift ticket offices.
Winter and summer: which area for which activity?
The three areas share the same ski area, but each is better placed for certain activities. Choose the starting point for your days:
- Plan-Peisey, for skiing the whole of Paradiski thanks to the Vanoise Express;
- Vallandry, for first turns on the snow at the top of the gondola in winter, and in summer for the pump track, the ski area lifts open to mountain bikes and the Homme-Cairn trail;
- Peisey-Nancroix, for cross-country skiing and biathlon at the Rosuel Nordic ski area, at Pont Baudin, and in summer for hiking at the gates of the Park, from the Rosuel valley.
The resort also offers snowshoe walks on marked trails in winter and, in summer, via ferrata, climbing, summer biathlon and white-water sports.
